Vale da Esperança Farm

Vale da Esperança (Valley of Hope) and Lua (Moon) are a community situated in Alto Paraiso de Goias,
Chapada dos Veadeiros,
220 Km north of Brasilia, state of Goias, in the very heart of Brazil.
With an area of more than 6.000 ha, from 750 to 1200 mt
of altitude, Vale da Esperança and Lua sit on one of the most luminous regions on the planet,
Chapada dos Veadeiros,
thanks to the extensive conglomerates of quartz crystals, created from the
fusion of two tectonic plates over a billion years ago.
Chapada dos Veadeiros's extremely ancient
geological formation, is one of the oldest on earth.
Its mountain ranges are located in the Central plateau of Brazil.

Vale da Esperança

The predominant scenary here is the high altitude savanah (cerrado).
The landscape unfolds into flowered fields, tropical meadows and gallery forests.

Enchanted trails lead
to vast mountains, deep canyons, spectacular waterfalls and river pools.

Green Project

Permaculture, Ethno Botanical Gardens and Agro-forestry

Vale da Esperança and Lua are busy with agro-forestry, permaculture and the ethnobotanical garden,
planting, planting and planting.
We like to invite people who wants to learn and possible work-exchangers to join this effort with us.

Two hectares of agro-forest in Vale da Esperança started in 2003.

  1. Agro-forestry workshops

    Intensive Course:

This course teaches the principles of agro-forestry.

It is a practical course given in the field. It teaches how to prepare the ground, how to plant and how to combine the plants to form an agro- forest. It also teaches about the plants that work as nutrient for the ground, helping to cover it and to protect the roots, supplying organic matter and nitrogen to the ground as well as to create a micro-system with shade for the emerging young plants.

This course focus on trees that produce oils, bio-Diesel products, as well as hardwood and fruits (all planted together). We work among others, with native plants from the Savanna (Cerrado) as well as Palm trees and plants that survive long periods of dry season.

People from the Kalunga tribe participated in this workshop.

  1. It is known that the extraction of organic pure oils, cold pressed, have an immense value in the market as well as mamona oil for bio-diesel production.
Tribal people are very attached to the land, and usually most of their land is available for plantations.
Brasilian government is giving incentives for mamona plantations for Bio-Diesel in partnership with EMBRAPA.
One way to create autonomy for these tribes is to furnish these people with the knowledge of how to produce products in great demand on the world market, with high financial value.
  2. The Community of Vale da Esperança organizes this course with the help of friends who sponsors the costs for tribal people to have the opportunity to participate free of costs.
